Formed in 2022, the Seongmin Ahn Quartet quickly established itself with a sophisticated musical narrative and profound interplay. In 2023, the group was selected for the 'Searching for Jazzman' program and performed at the 20th Jarasum Jazz Festival. Their debut album, The Lake (2023), earned widespread critical acclaim for its "profound musicianship and sound that belies their young age." Drawing inspiration from the lyrical minimalism of artists like Paul Motian and Jakob Bro, the quartet explores static tempos and modern harmonies to create fluid, evocative sonic experiences. The Lake was notably named one of the "Best Domestic Jazz Albums of 2023" by jazz critic Yeo In-kyung.
